GIT archives
Git is popular version control system designed to handle very large projects with speed and efficiency; it is used mainly for various open source projects, most notably the Linux kernel.
Git falls in the category of distributed source code management tools, similar to e.g. GNU Arch or Monotone (or BitKeeper in the commercial world). Every Git working directory is a full-fledged repository with full revision tracking capabilities, not dependent on network access or a central server.
Git is an Open Source project covered by the GNU General Public License. It was originally written by Linus Torvalds and is currently maintained by Junio C Hamano.
Our public git trees can be accessed at
http://git.linux-vserver.org/git/<projectname>.git
Developer access is granted only by using SSH
git+ssh://git.linux-vserver.org/var/git/<projectname>.git
Browsing the GIT trees gives you a great view into the current status of this project's code. You may also view the complete histories of any file in the repository.
SVN archives
Subversion (SVN) is a tool used by many software developers to manage changes within their source code tree. SVN provides the means to store not only the current version of a piece of source code, but a record of all changes (and who made those changes) that have occurred to that source code. Use of Subversion is particularly common on projects with multiple developers, since SVN ensures changes made by one developer are not accidentally removed when another developer posts their changes to the source tree.
